The Children’s Act forbids that photographs of children in protective custody are shown to the public – this is the reason that the faces of the children in these photographs have been blurred.

The Izibusiso frieze on our home page is the work of local artist and award winning illustrator Cora Coetzee, a member of the Izibusiso team. Cora’s association with Izibusiso began when she first visited the house and was inspired by what she saw, the beatific bond which exists between the House Mother and the children. She went home and drew an artist’s impression of what she had seen – this large charcoal drawing, entitled ‘Izibusiso’, now hangs in the living room of the house.
When it was decided to publish a recipe book to help raise funds, the ‘Izibusiso’ drawing was chosen to grace the front cover – this picture of the gentle and loving Mother figure surrounded by children has become synonymous with the recipe book ‘HERMANUS COOKS’
The Izibusiso logo: “mother and child” was designed by graphic artist, Hannes de Wet. Hannes was also the creative force responsible for the graphic design of HERMANUS COOKS recipe book.
